Journey
I ve started to think about the journey of a thought and how there is always a starting point and a final realization point. What if there was no realization and the thought just keep circulting your brain with no escape!
Knitting the repeatitive notion to create something.
I thought this was an appropriate way of explaining what i was looking at, so I started to knit.
Processes of the Brain
Initially i started to look at the different functions of the brain and the sensory system and began studying pet and cat scans. I am interested in the idea of reducing the stigma regarded with mental health and the realization that a lot of issues and experiences felt by people with ‘mental health’ issues are common to us all.
Thinking about issues of isolation, being trapped within yourself and our relation to our personal role in society and the outside world . I am thinking about how to translate this into something visual through possible use of sound, movement and texture.
3D Project
For the 3D Project the site I choose was a grass verge in the grounds at the Royal Edinburgh hospital. I chose the Royal Edinburgh Hospital for personal reasons and because im really interested in using the arts in a health care setting and thought this would be a good way to gain better knowledge and insight into the different functions of the hospital. The grass verge is location outside the Mckinnon House ward and lends itself well to a sculpture of some kind.
